Trump announces noticeable progress in negotiations on war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump said that the negotiation process to end the war in Ukraine is showing tangible progress. He said this during a conversation with journalists at the White House.

According to the American leader, positive signals are coming from the negotiating platform. "I think that there (at the negotiations in Abu Dhabi - ed.) significant progress is being made," Donald Trump said.

The US President also commented on the so-called "energy truce" between Ukraine and russia. He emphasized that there is currently a pause in the russian federation's attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, and called this an important step. "I said that russia is temporarily not conducting shelling due to extremely cold weather... We asked president putin if they could stop shelling for a week... he agreed to it. We appreciate it very much," Trump said, emphasizing the difficult weather conditions in Ukraine.

The next round of talks on the settlement of the war is expected to take place on February 1 in Abu Dhabi. Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that only two parties - Ukraine and russia - plan to participate in the talks.
