The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the initiative of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development to introduce monthly surcharges for specialists dealing with the consequences of russian shelling. Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, has announced this.

Power engineers, Ukrzaliznytsia railroad workers and housing and communal services workers involved in emergency works will receive financial assistance in the amount of UAH 20,000 until the end of the heating season, and this pilot project will be financed from the state budget reserve fund in 2026.

According to the official, the procedure for processing payments will be automated and simplified as much as possible. A single list of eligible enterprises will be created through the Diia portal, which will then submit online lists of employees of their emergency teams. The recipients will be notified of the funds through notifications in the app or via SMS.

Justifying the need for such support, Oleksii Kuleba emphasized the exceptional contribution of these specialists to the country's life support.

"These people are the first to go to the sites after the strikes. They work in the cold, without light, often under the threat of repeated shelling. It is thanks to them that basic services are quickly restored, hospitals, schools and critical infrastructure are open, and Ukrzaliznytsia trains are quickly launched. The task of the state is to support those who keep cities viable with concrete, timely and fair decisions," the Vice Prime Minister emphasized.

The first payments for January are to be made in February.
