Russian constant shelling of critical infrastructure makes it impossible to stabilize the situation in the Ukrainian energy system. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the evening of December 24.

In Kyiv alone, more than 800,000 consumers were left without electricity due to emergency outages. According to the head of government, even with the round-the-clock work of repair crews, it is extremely difficult for power engineers to provide full power due to the high intensity of the strikes.

The latest nighttime attacks targeted energy, heating and civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and other regions of the country. The Ministry of Energy has already distributed 143 tons of humanitarian aid, including transformers, generators, cables and pumps, to overcome the consequences of the destruction.

In the near future, additional technical equipment is expected to come from international partners, including Slovakia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Italy, Latvia and Poland. Against the backdrop of the energy emergency, the government is also stepping up measures to support vulnerable populations.
