Indian Oil buys 7 million barrels of oil from non-russian suppliers at once - Reuters
Indian oil refining company Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has purchased several batches of crude oil from Brazil, Angola and the United Arab Emirates in order to replace supplies from the aggressor country of russia.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to its own sources.
The agency's unnamed interlocutors said that IOC bought 2 million barrels of Buzios oil from Brazilian oil company Petrobras under an option contract. The Indian oil refiner bought another 2 million barrels of Upper Zakum "black gold" from trader Mercuria from the UAE.
The company also bought one million barrels each of Hungo and Clove oil from Angola, and another million barrels of Murban from the UAE.
The shipment of the above-mentioned batches of oil to IOC's enterprises is expected in March this year.
As Reuters writes, Indian oil refiners are reviewing their strategies to move away from importing oil from russia, which will help India conclude a trade deal with the United States to reduce tariffs on goods.
Imports of russian oil to India have fallen to their lowest level in two years as Indian companies have increased their purchases of oil from other members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to a record high.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 12, media outlets reported that Indian holding company Reliance Industries is in talks with the United States to resume imports of Venezuelan oil.
As we will recall, on January 5, US President Donald Trump allowed the introduction of even higher tariffs on goods from India if Indian companies do not reduce imports of russian oil.
