The United States and its North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies have formed the basis for a future agreement on Greenland. In this regard, Washington will not impose duties.

US President Donald Trump announced this on the social network Truth Social on Wednesday, January 21.

Trump wrote that he had a "very productive" meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which the groundwork for a future agreement on Greenland was laid.

"This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America, and all NATO Nations. Based upon this understanding, I will not impose the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st," Trump said in his post.
