Against the backdrop of strikes by the aggressor country russia and deteriorating weather conditions, a state of emergency will be introduced in Ukraine's energy sector. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated this on Wednesday, January 14.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the consequences of russian strikes in severe frosts are severe. According to him, repair crews, energy companies, utilities, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are working around the clock. They are working to restore electricity and heating.

"In general, an emergency situation will be introduced in the energy sector of Ukraine. The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, has been appointed to lead the work on supporting people and communities in such conditions, as well as solving practical issues," the President emphasized.

In addition, government officials will maximize their work with partners to obtain the necessary equipment and additional support. The Cabinet of Ministers must ensure the connection of backup power equipment to the grid. Work is also underway to significantly increase the volume of electricity imports to Ukraine, Zelenskyy said.
