President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a number of appointments to the leadership of regional state administrations in the west of Ukraine. The respective decrees were officially published on the President's website.

According to the documents, Ivan Rudnytskyi was dismissed from the post of the Head of the Volyn Regional State Administration. However, he will continue to work in the public sector at a new level: the President has appointed him as the Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine. Roman Romaniuk is now the interim head of the Volyn Region.

At the same time, Taras Pastukh became the new Head of the Ternopil Regional State Administration. It is expected that the new leaders will focus on strengthening the defense capabilities of the regions, supporting internally displaced persons and ensuring the stable operation of critical infrastructure in the winter.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early January, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov become the new head of the Ministry of Defense.
