Shelling of Kryvyi Rih on January 8: trapped miners rescued from underground
As a result of a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk Region) on January 8, seven miners were trapped at a depth of 1,490 meters. Rescuers evacuated all of them unharmed, an operation that took six hours. It was reported by the State Emergency Service.
"On January 8, as a result of a missile strike on the city, several districts were cut off from electricity, including mines where people were working at the time. Seven workers remained underground at one of the mines - at the horizons of 1490 meters and 940 meters," it said.
It is noted that the mine rescuers of the State Emergency Service, together with the company's specialists, used a generator, launched a lifting mechanism and ensured the descent of the mine cage.
"After more than six hours of work, all employees were brought to the surface. Everyone is safe and sound," the rescuers emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 8, russian occupation forces used two Iskander ballistic missiles to attack residential buildings in Kryvyi Rih.
