Serviceman injured: police classify car explosion in Kyiv as terrorist attack

The car explosion in the Obolonskyi District in Kyiv on January 4 has been classified as a terrorist attack - a pre-trial investigation has been launched. It was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

It is noted that today an explosion occurred in the yard of a house on Heroiv Dnipra Street when a car trunk was opened. As a result of the explosion, a serviceman sustained shrapnel wounds. A woman who was nearby was not injured.

"A pre-trial investigation into the explosion was initiated under Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - a terrorist act, that is, the commission of an explosion or other actions that posed a danger to human life or health," the prosecutor's office added.

As a reminder, on December 11, an explosion occurred in the Darnytskyi District of Kyiv.

The first explosion occurred when two National Guard officers were patrolling the area, killing one of them and injuring the other and a security guard. The second explosion occurred when police officers and paramedics were already working at the scene. Two police officers were injured.

The double terrorist attack was carried out by natives of the Odesa and Donetsk Regions aged 23, 27 and 25.
