Missed on Christmas Eve: 19-year-old girl found dead in Texas after being searched for by hundreds of people for week
The US has confirmed the death of 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, who went missing on Christmas Eve in Texas. This was reported by CNN.
The girl's body was found near her home, and the official death certificate was released on January 1. Camila disappeared on December 24, on Christmas Eve. She was last seen on surveillance cameras near her home at around 7 am. After that, no trace was left.
According to police, the girl left home without her phone, tablet, or car. Throughout the Christmas week, law enforcement, FBI agents, and dozens of volunteers from the local community searched for her. Search teams worked around the clock, using drones and detailed maps of the area.
Camila's family hoped for a happy ending until the last moment.
"I thought I would find her like other times, and we would go home together," said the girl's mother, Rosario Olmos.
"I miss her. Dad is waiting for her at home," added the father, Alfonso Mendoza.
Due to serious concerns about the girl's safety, Texas authorities announced a special CLEAR Alert, which is used in cases of possible kidnapping or threat to life.
On December 31, during a re-examination of the area near Camila's house, law enforcement officers came across a body. A forensic examination on January 1, 2026 confirmed that the deceased was Mendoza Olmos.
According to the sheriff, the girl was in a difficult psychological state. The suicide version is being considered, but the investigation is ongoing.
Recall that in the Donaustadt district of Vienna, the body of a 21-year-old Ukrainian citizen was found in a completely burned-out car. Law enforcement is currently determining who could have been involved in the boy's death.
