Agent of russian and Belarusian special services, who adjusted attacks on thermal power plants, detained in Kyiv

The Security Service of Ukraine detained an agent in Kyiv who worked simultaneously for the russian and Belarusian special services. At the request of the Border Committee of Belarus, he spied on the locations of the Defense Forces, and on instructions from the aggressor country of russia, he adjusted the occupiers' attacks on the energy facilities of the capital region. This is stated in the SSU's report.

According to law enforcement, based on information from this agent, the occupiers hoped to disable key energy generating enterprises that heat most of the housing stock and social infrastructure in Kyiv.

The SSU documented how the agent first conducted surveillance from the window of his own apartment outside the perimeter of one of the capital's thermal power plants. Then he conducted additional reconnaissance near this facility to find out its technical condition after the recent hostile shelling of the capital. The offender sent the collected information to the enemy special services for further shelling of the capital's CHP plant.

In case of fulfillment of the task, he counted on further "evacuation" outside Ukraine. To do this, he prepared a tactical backpack with essentials that he planned to use during an illegal border crossing.

"However, the SSU officers exposed the intentions of the offender in advance and detained him at his place of residence in Kyiv. At the same time, measures were taken to secure the locations of potential 'targets'," the special service said.

According to the investigation, the detainee is a local handyman who was recruited by russian and Belarusian special services through Telegram channels, where he published pro-kremlin comments.

Security Service investigators have now served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The offender is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, counterintelligence of the Security Service exposed an FSB agent in Kyiv who was trying to eliminate an officer of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
