Regions in russia left without heat due to coal industry crisis - CCD

Due to the coal industry crisis, regions in the aggressor country of russia have been left without heat. This is stated in a message from the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

"In six districts of Yakutia, in the midst of frost, coal reserves for heating have almost run out. The reason is the debts of utility companies and a lack of funds. Companies cannot pay off coal mining enterprises and transporters and are forced to expect subsidies from the federal budget," it says.

The Center emphasized that this is happening at temperatures of approximately -42° C and against the background of delays in heat supply, which began in the fall.

It is noted that the situation in the region is directly related to the general state of the russian coal industry. At the end of November, 74% of coal companies were operating at a loss, and 23 enterprises stopped their work.

The industry's total losses reached RUB 263 billion (USD 3.33 billion) and could grow to RUB 350 billion (USD 4.43 billion) by the end of the year.

"Despite putin's public promises to "save" the industry, russia lacks coal even for domestic needs. Budget deficits, debts, and staff reductions indicate a deep crisis in the coal industry. The consequence of this degradation is direct risks for the civilian population, which remains without stable heat in the middle of winter," the CCD.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the authorities of the aggressor country, russia, continue to increase funding for the war against Ukraine, even with a significant excess of the established budget. According to the results of 2025, russia's military spending is higher than the planned level by almost 20%.
