A center with a state-of-the-art video surveillance system, which for the first time in Ukraine is built on Ukrainian software, has been launched in Chernihiv. This is stated in the message of the press service of the Chernihiv Region's police on Facebook on Wednesday, December 24.

The modern video surveillance system uses artificial intelligence algorithms. A total of 400 cameras have been installed in Chernihiv, including cameras with face and vehicle recognition. The number of cameras in the region has increased to 1,500. In addition, server equipment was installed, and a monitoring center was built.

"The system is based on Ukrainian-made software that provides technological independence, flexibility in development and the ability to quickly scale to the needs of territorial communities. Its use contributes to increasing the information awareness of the security and defense forces of Ukraine by obtaining up-to-date visual information, improving the quality of situational monitoring, timely identification of risks and making informed management decisions," the statement said.

The police noted that the new center allows them to monitor the situation in the city, quickly search for lost children, and generally respond to offenses and emergencies, as well as coordinate the work of various services. The new system will help citizens to get help quickly in critical situations. At the same time, Chernihiv became the first city in Ukraine to introduce such a video surveillance system.
