Zelenskyy arrives in Berlin and prepares to meet with American side

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin on Saturday, December 14, on an official visit. The head of state announced this on Facebook.

"Already in Germany. Today, the plan is to meet with the American negotiating team. We are focusing on how to reliably guarantee security for Ukraine so that the experience of the Budapest Memorandum and russia's invasion is never repeated. We are counting on constructive negotiations," Zelenskyy wrote.

Earlier that day, the President noted that Sunday in Berlin would be devoted to negotiations with the American side. According to him, separate meetings with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and a number of European leaders are also planned.

"Today we have a Ukrainian-American day in Berlin. Of course, I will see Chancellor Friedrich Merz separately. And, probably, in the evening, I will also meet with some of our European leaders," the President told reporters.

In addition, Zelenskyy stressed that the Ukrainian side is actively preparing for negotiations with the US, working out all the details of the proposed documents.

"We are preparing for a meeting with the American side. Many important details, we are working carefully on each point of each draft. The main thing is that all the steps that we agree on with our partners really work for the sake of guaranteed security. Only reliable guarantees can ensure peace," the head of state emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy told what he would do in the event of the failure of the peace plan.
