Due to russian aggression, only 75% of polling stations in Ukraine operational - CEC

The russian war has damaged a significant part of the electoral infrastructure, which is why only 75% of polling stations are operational in Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Serhii Dubovyk in a comment to CNN.

For the elections in Ukraine to meet international standards, six months of preparation are needed, Dubovyk claims. He emphasizes that if the voting takes place sooner, it is "impossible to fully guarantee" compliance with all these standards.

"Almost a million Ukrainians serve in the army," the CEC stressed, casting doubt on the possibility of their voting without a ceasefire.

At the same time, six months of preparation are needed to hold elections in accordance with international standards, Dubovyk warned. If this deadline is not met, full guarantee of standards will be impossible.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy previously outlined three key conditions under which Ukraine could hold presidential elections during a full-scale war. According to him, first of all, it is necessary to ensure the security of the electoral process, guarantee the ability to vote for servicemen at the front, and make appropriate changes to the legislation.

The day before, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Politico that Ukraine needs to hold presidential elections. The American leader suggested that Zelenskyy could win them.

Zelenskyy, who is currently on a working visit to Italy, said he was ready to hold the elections.
