SSU attacks russian oil platform in Caspian Sea for the first time

Fighters from the Special Security Service's (SSU) Special Operations Center "Alpha" attacked the Filanovsky oil platform in the Caspian Sea with drones.

This is reported by Ukrainian News Agency, citing its own sources.

According to the interlocutor, the platform belongs to the company Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft. This is the first time that Ukraine has struck a russian oil production facility in the Caspian Sea.

Ukrainian fighters recorded at least four hits on the platform. As a result of the attack, oil and gas production from more than 20 wells it serves was stopped.

The interlocutor specified that the Filanovsky field is one of the largest explored in russia and its sector in the Caspian Sea: its reserves amount to approximately 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. The extracted resources were exported through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.

As a reminder, the day before, drones attacked the Dashan tanker (IMO: 9299666), which is part of the so-called "shadow fleet", in the Black Sea. The vessel was heading towards the russian port of Novorossiysk.

On December 2, a drone attacked the russian tanker Midvolga-2 in the Black Sea, which was delivering sunflowerseed oil to Georgia. At the time of the attack, the vessel was off the coast of Turkey.

We also wrote that on November 29, drones attacked the Kairos and Virat tankers in the Black Sea. Both vessels are part of the so-called "shadow fleet", with the help of which the aggressor country of russia exports oil to circumvent sanctions.
