In the Vinnytsia Region, a fuel oil spill was recorded into the water area of the Pivdennyi Buh [Southern Buh] River near the Ladyzhynska thermal power plant (TPP).
This was reported by the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office on Facebook.
Urgent searches have already been carried out on the territory of the TPP, samples of water, soil and pollutants have been taken for laboratory tests. Priority investigative actions are currently underway to identify those involved in the pollution.
The prosecutor's office also showed the consequences of the pollution.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the incident under Part 1 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for violation of water protection rules and pollution of water bodies.
Recall that the United Nations negotiations on the world's first treaty to combat plastic pollution, which took place in Geneva, ended in complete failure. This is the sixth attempt to create a legally binding document.
