Cases of Internet shutdowns when using VPNs recorded in russia - CCD
In the aggressor country of russia, cases of home Internet shutdowns when using VPNs have been recorded. This is stated in the message of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
Thus, according to the Center, if a VPN is detected, russian providers change the DNS settings, which completely blocks access to the network. Subscribers have the opportunity to restore the connection manually, but if the VPN is used again, the situation repeats.
It is noted that the russian authorities are systematically working to block russians' access to information sources not controlled by the Kremlin, introducing penalties for searching for so-called "extremist materials" and advertising VPN services, massively disconnecting mobile Internet and blocking access to independent sources of information.
"The Kremlin's ultimate goal is the complete information isolation of its own population and the creation of a "sovereign Internet" from propaganda resources controlled exclusively by the authorities," the Center summarizes.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in October, massive disruptions in mobile Internet for foreign SIM cards and devices with eSIM began to be recorded in russia.
And in November, operators began to disconnect mobile Internet services in certain regions of the occupying russian federation.
