Signatures being collected in US House of Representatives to vote for tougher sanctions against russia

US House of Representatives Republican Brian Fitzpatrick has started collecting signatures to put a bill on tougher sanctions against russia to a vote.

He announced this on his personal page on X.

Fitzpatrick said he was stepping up his efforts amid a report by The Wall Street Journal that US President Donald Trump is allegedly demanding that Ukraine agree to a "peace plan" by November 27.

"Correction: The United States wants Russia’s answer on an unconditional withdrawal of Ukraine by Thursday. This Russian-drafted propaganda must be rejected and disregarded for the unserious nonsense that it is. This moment requires Peace Through Strength, not appeasement," the congressman wrote.

He also said that a group of members of the House of Representatives informed the leadership about the start of collecting signatures under the so-called petition to force the bill to be submitted for consideration, which will allow putting a package of tough sanctions against russia to a vote.

The petition mechanism allows the bill to be brought to the floor without the support of the leadership if it is signed by 218 congressmen.
