Rada prepares for new resignations: Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba among those who may resign - media
The Verkhovna Rada plans to return to considering personnel issues in the Cabinet of Ministers on November 19, and potential resignations may include Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery Oleksii Kuleba. A source in the parliament told this to RBC-Ukraine.
According to the source, today's plenary session ended early: MPs gathered only to consider two resignations related to the so-called "Mindich tapes" - the head of the Ministry of Justice Herman Halushchenko and the Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk. However, the work of the Rada was blocked by the European Solidarity members, and its leader Petro Poroshenko said that the faction would not vote for the dismissal of individual ministers until the parliament considers the resignation of the entire government.
After that, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk announced a break and convened the leaders of the factions.
Tomorrow the Rada is to return to the issue of dismissal of Herman Halushchenko and Svitlana Hrynchuk. At the same time, according to a source from RBC-Ukraine, the resignation of Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Communities and Territories Development, may also be on the agenda. The government, according to the source, is also preparing a decision to dismiss the head of the State Financial Monitoring Service, Filip Pronin.
At the same time, another informed source denied that these personnel decisions could be made tomorrow.
The personnel changes take place against the backdrop of a large-scale operation by NABU Midas on corruption at Energoatom. According to the investigation, the organized group received kickbacks of 10-15% from contractors and legalized about USD 100 million through the company's Kyiv office. Among those involved in the investigation are businessman Tymur Mindich, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov, one of the heads of Energoatom, and several businessmen.
On November 12, the government dismissed Halushchenko, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the heads of the Justice and Energy Ministries could not remain in office due to a loss of trust. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko submitted relevant submissions to parliament, and both ministers were removed from the National Security and Defense Council.
Amid the investigation, the government continues to reshuffle key positions. Zelenskyy announced on Thursday that he would make "quick decisions" and hold a meeting with the government, parliamentary leadership and the Servant of the People faction.
Recall that the Rada planned to dismiss Halushchenko and Hrynchuk today but after blocking the rostrum, Stefanchuk closed the meeting.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, November 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may dismiss the head of his office, Andrii Yermak.
