Poland launches its own drone defense without waiting for pan-European "wall"
Poland plans to start creating a national system to counter drones in the coming months, without waiting for the implementation of the EU's overall "drone wall" project.
Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk has stated this in an interview with Bloomberg.
According to him, Warsaw supports the idea of strengthening the air defense of the entire European Union and is ready to consider external solutions, but Ukrainian (national) developments remain a priority.
Poland wants to put the first components of the system into operation about three months after the official start of the project, and full integration is planned to be completed within two years. The new system will be an additional element of the country's multi-level air defense and will work together with existing medium- and long-range systems.
The Defense Ministry will announce investments in drone detection, jamming and neutralization technologies this month. At least half of the contracts are expected to go to Polish companies.
Earlier, the European Commission noted that the first noticeable results within the EU's "drone wall" may appear no earlier than in a year, while the deployment of a full system will take longer.
What is known about the drone attacks on Poland?
On the night of September 9-10, russian UAVs flew into Poland. The Polish military recorded 21 cases of violation of the country's airspace.
Poland and its NATO allies have sent combat aircraft to destroy the drones. They managed to shoot down several russian drones.
After the attack by russian UAVs, Poland said that putin is mocking Trump.
