Singer Monetochka, who openly speaks out against war, arrested in absentia in Moscow

The Moscow City Prosecutor's Office of the aggressor country of russia has arrested in absentia russian singer Elizaveta Girdymova (better known under the creative pseudonym Monetochka).

This is evidenced by a message published on the Telegram channel of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.

"Taking into account the position of the Basmanny Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office, the court in absentia chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for Elizaveta Girdymova," the message says.

The press release states that the singer was charged in absentia under the article on violation of the duties of a "foreign agent" (Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the russian federation).

Girdymova was twice brought to administrative responsibility during the year for violating the procedure for the activities of a "foreign agent." Despite this, Monetochka continued to publish online, without using the indication that she was a "foreign agent".

The singer was recognized as a "foreign agent" in January 2023 due to her position on the war in Ukraine, which the singer openly opposed. Together with her husband, she left russia and moved to Lithuania.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in December 2024 it became known that Monetochka and rapper Ivan Alekseev (Noize MC) were nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.
