State of emergency introduced in Belgorod Oblast after AFU struck reservoir dam

In the Belgorod Oblast, the aggressor country of russia has introduced a state of emergency at the facility level due to damage to the Belgorod reservoir dam on the Siverskyi Donets River.

This was reported by TASS with reference to the Federal Agency for Water Resources of the russian federation.

The agency said that as a result of the strikes on October 24 and 25, the bottom water outlet, which provides sanitary water releases downstream, was damaged. The tightness of both segments of the dam gates was also broken.

"As a result of the damage, the water level in the reservoir decreased by one meter <...> A state of emergency at the facility level has been introduced, and an action plan for the restoration of facilities has been approved," the agency said.

TASS writes that due to damage to the Belgorod reservoir dam, there is a risk of flooding in a number of settlements. Residents were asked to leave for temporary accommodation.

Satellite images of the Belgorod reservoir after the strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being circulated online. One shows the flow of water, while the other shows the extent of flooding near the dam.

Russian analyst Viacheslav Shiryayev believes that the aim of the strike on the reservoir dam is to disrupt logistics in the Belgorod Oblast, which is "the main region through which supplies are transported to the front."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 26, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert "Magyar" Brovdi, confirmed the strike on the Belgorod reservoir dam.
