Trump names main problem with Tomahawk missile transfer to Ukraine

US President Donald Trump commented on the issue of transferring Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine and emphasized that the key obstacle is the long training period for operators. It was reported by Clash Report.

"It takes a minimum of 6 months to learn how to use Tomahawks. The only way is if we shoot it, we are not going to do that," Trump said, explaining that training includes learning control systems, practicing targeting procedures, simulator training, and joint exercises. This makes it extremely difficult to quickly supply such systems to Ukraine.

Tomahawk is a family of precision subsonic cruise missiles that can be launched from submarines, surface ships and land launchers; they have the ability to fly low, skirting terrain. According to Stacie L. Pettyjohn, Senior Fellow and Director of the Defense Program at the Center for a New American Security think tank, the United States could theoretically provide Ukraine with about 20-50 such missiles, but their number and potential are unlikely to dramatically change the course of hostilities - Tomahawks can complement existing capabilities, but will not provide constant deep strikes.

Ukraine positively perceives signals from Washington about possible deliveries; details of the use and exercises are currently being agreed upon by joint working groups of the two countries

As a reminder, Zelenskyy said that russia is evading diplomacy because the United States refused to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk.
