Defense Ministry purchases floating body armor for the first time
The State Operator of the Rear of the Ministry of Defense is purchasing body armor with a positive buoyancy element for the first time. The Ministry of Defense announced this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"This is a basic modular package, to which a special module has been added - a positive buoyancy element, intended for use when performing tasks on water," the report says.
It is noted that the positive buoyancy element was developed and approved by the Central Directorate for the Development of Material Support.
The special module allows, in case of contact with water, to transform the body armor into a rescue vehicle that is capable of keeping a serviceman in full uniform, personal protective equipment and with weapons and full ammunition on the surface of the water, which reduces the risks for personnel during operations at sea or in areas with water obstacles.
Body armor with an element of positive buoyancy is intended for use by the Navy and special operations units performing tasks in coastal and water environments.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in December 2023, the Ministry of Defense announced the completion of certification of the first body armor intended for female servicemen.
