Trump did not abandon idea of giving Ukraine Tomahawk missiles, despite putin's warnings

US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of transferring American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine after a phone conversation with vladimir putin.

It was reported by CNN, citing sources familiar with the conversation.

According to the publication, during the conversation, the russian leader tried to convince Trump to abandon the decision to supply missiles, but this did not change the position of the American president.

"Why should he give up this leverage? He's not going to remove the Tomahawk threat until it's no longer necessary," one source told CNN.

Another source noted that Trump is seeking to end the war through diplomatic means, and sees the possibility of transferring Tomahawk to Ukraine as one of the tools of pressure in these negotiations.

According to the TV channel's interlocutors, Trump has recently shown greater willingness to allow Ukraine to receive long-range missiles, and the relevant plans have already been prepared - only his order remains.

On Friday, Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which the issue of Tomahawk will be one of the main topics.

After talking to putin, the US president admitted that "the Russian ruler did not like the idea of transferring Tomahawk to Ukraine".
