Document demonstrably fake: Christo Grozev on Trukhanov's russian passport
Bulgarian investigative journalist Christo Grozev has called the russian passport of Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov, which was shown by the Security Service of Ukraine the day before, a fake.
Grozev wrote about this on X (Twitter)
The journalist claims that the document shown by the SSU is "demonstrably a fake". He also stated that the whole situation around Trukhanov is the result of the activities of the special services of the aggressor country russia.
"However, this document is demonstrably fake, and likely originates from a Russian active measure against the incumbent mayor," Grozev wrote.
He promised to publish a full investigation into Trukhanov tomorrow, October 16. In it, the journalist promises to explain why the passport is a fake, as well as provide evidence pointing to the activities of russian special services.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 14, Suspilne TV channel stated, citing its own sources, that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy deprived Trukhanov of citizenship. The reason for this was the confirmation of information that the mayor of Odesa had russian citizenship.
Zelenskyy also revoked the citizenship of collaborator Oleh Tsariov and former Ukrainian ballet dancer Serhii Polunin.
Later, the Security Service of Ukraine published documents, including Trukhanov's russian passport. The photo shown by the service shows that the document was issued in December 2015 and is valid for 10 years.
Trukhanov himself denied that he had russian citizenship. He intends to file a lawsuit, including with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
