Banks earn record-breaking UAH 106.4 billion in 8M, in August profit was UAH 13.6 billion

Banks earned a record-breaking UAH 106.4 billion in 8 months, in August the profit of banks amounted to UAH 13.6 billion.

This is evidenced by data from the National Bank, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that in 8 months the banks earned UAH 106.402 billion, while last year this figure was UAH 106.081 billion.

In August, the profit of banks amounted to UAH 13.644 billion.

The profitability of bank capital as of September 1, 2025 was 39.6%, which is noticeably higher than before the full-scale war.

In particular, this indicator was 32.3% as of September 1, 2021, 23.8% - as of September 1, 2020.

Banks are adequately capitalized. As of September 1, 2025, the bank capital adequacy ratio was 15% (with a standard of 10%), the Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio was 14.7% (with a standard of 7.5%).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, banks earned UAH 14.421 billion in July 2025 and UAH 92.495 billion since the beginning of the year.

In 2024, banks received UAH 91 billion in net profit after charging UAH 96 billion in profit tax at an increased rate of 50%.

Danylo Hetmantsev wants to introduce a 50% tax on bank profits in 2026.

During 2023-2024, the state decided to tax banks' excess profits at the end of the year.

But this year, the tax was not raised and banks will pay corporate profit tax at the base rate of 25%.
