Russia cuts off Zaporizhzhia NPP power lines from both sides - Zelenskyy
Russian invaders cut the power supply lines of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in the occupied city of Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia Region, from both sides when they seized it. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced this, We Ukraine reports.
The President noted that the power supply lines to the Zaporizhzhia NPP were cut off from both the territory controlled by Ukraine and the temporarily occupied territory.
"Now there are many requests from Grossi, Macron. Witkoff transmitted signals to ours. Everyone is asking: what's going on at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, what's happening there, what's the threat, could there be an explosion? It has never happened before that a plant has been running on diesel for so long without electricity. What is going on? Lines have been cut on both sides - from the territory we control and from the territory we temporarily do not control. Who cut the lines from the very beginning? The Russians. They broke them when they were seizing it," the President said.
At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine had repeatedly repaired the line from the government-controlled territory, but russians had shelled the repair crews and people had been killed as a result.
"We said: if you want to repair on one side, let's repair on the other side. And it's fair. On both sides, at the same time. No one should shoot, on both sides. Let's repair it. Who is against it? But the Russians are against it, they don't let us repair it, they shoot," Zelenskyy said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 6, the IAEA announced explosions near the the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
On October 2, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the aggressor country russia is preparing to connect the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to its power system, which increases the risk of nuclear incidents.
As a reminder, on September 23, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine announced a blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
