Russian army crosses Oskil by boats, suffers from water shortage and has no progress in key areas - ISW

The russian occupation forces found themselves in a difficult situation on several sections of the front: Ukrainian drones have cut off their ground communications, the troops are forced to cross the Oskil River on inflatable boats and collect rainwater near Sumy. At the same time, active assaults continue without significant progress.

Supply problems and water shortage

In the north of the Sumy Region on October 7, russian troops continued offensive operations, but without success. One of the russian military bloggers associated with the Northern grouping said that the units in Yunakivka have not received water for eight days. Due to the blocking of all ground supply routes by Ukrainian drones, they are forced to collect rainwater.

He also denied rumors about the capture of Yunakivka and spoke about the ineffective command: officers without combat experience remain in the rear 20 km from the front and refuse to evacuate the wounded and killed.

Difficult situation in the Kupyansk Axis

Russian units are trying to cross the Oskil River using ropes and inflatable boats, but they are not making any significant progress. A spokesman for the Ukrainian brigade reported on the activation of russian drone units, which remotely mine territories and use FPV drones on logistics routes.

The russians continue to use sabotage and reconnaissance groups both for penetrations and for strikes on rear areas.

A Ukrainian formation officer said that the russians are increasingly using small infantry to bypass defense lines and unmanned ground vehicles to compensate for logistical problems due to attacks by Ukrainian drones.

A sergeant in a Ukrainian company noted that the russians lack weapons and food, but each soldier has a flag to mark the possible "capture" of settlements. The positions of the parties here are located very close - sometimes at a distance of several dozen meters.

Different situation in the Zaporizhzhia Region

In the east of the region, russian forces managed to advance, while in the west their attacks were unsuccessful.

Kherson Axis

All attempts by the occupation forces to make progress in the Kherson Region ended in vain.
