Ukraine to receive two Patriot air defense systems by end of year - Pistorius

Germany will transfer two MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine by the end of the year. The delivery will be carried out with the support of Norway.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius made the corresponding statement today, September 29, his words are quoted by Ukrinform.

According to him, the recent massive attacks by the aggressor country of russia on Ukraine emphasize the need to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system.

"And this is exactly what we are doing. Germany has already transferred three Patriot systems. By the end of the year, we will provide two more modern Patriot systems with the support of our Norwegian partners," - Pistorius said.

He did not specify whether this is a transfer of two full-fledged anti-aircraft missile systems or a certain number of anti-aircraft missile launchers.

Pistorius added that Germany remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine. Berlin spends EUR 9 billion annually on assistance to the Ukrainian army.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 27, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Patriot air defense system from Israel has been on combat duty in Ukraine for several months.

Recall, in April of this year, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs 10 more Patriot air defense systems to effectively intercept the occupiers' ballistic missiles.
