General Staff explains why Kupyansk was closed to civilians

The entrance to the city of Kupyansk, Kharkiv Кegion, is closed for effective search and strike operations and counter-sabotage measures, the city is under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

This was reported by Major Andriy Kovalev, spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.

"Kupyansk is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the north of the city, search and strike operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the russian occupiers continue. Active counter-sabotage measures are being carried out in Kupyansk itself," the spokesman said.

He explained that the entry of civilians into the city is restricted for the effective implementation of the above measures by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Recall that the day before, the Kupyansk City Military Administration informed that Kupyansk is a completely closed city, where only the military can enter. There is no electricity, gas or water in the city. It was reported that the Ukrainian military is doing everything to stabilize the situation in Kupyansk.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, as of September 26, soldiers of the russian occupation army were spotted in the central part of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv Region.

On September 19, the North operational and strategic troops of group stated that russian army soldiers received an order to shoot civilians in Kupyansk.
