NABU reports searches by SSU at former detectives working at Ukrzaliznytsia
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has reported searches by the SSU at former detectives working at Ukrzaliznytsia.
NABU has informed about this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The National Bureau informs that today the SSU is conducting investigative actions at former detectives of the National Bureau (currently active employees of Ukrzaliznytsia)," the bureau reported.
According to NABU, the searches are likely related to their previous activities in investigations as part of investigative groups that exposed organized crime groups at state-owned enterprises and state authorities, including the SSU.
"Such actions may indicate increased systemic pressure on the independence of anti-corruption institutions," NABU said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation have exposed the deputy head of one of the NABU detective units for a criminal offense. NABU and SAPO reported suspicion to the former director of the SSU cybersecurity department, Illia Vitiuk, in illegal enrichment and false declarations. The SSU stated that this was revenge on the Service for its actions in detaining NABU employees.
