Hungary will not stop buying russian oil, despite Trump's request - Szijjártó

Hungary has rejected a request from US President Donald Trump to stop buying russian oil. Bloomberg reports this with reference to a statement by Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday at the UN General Assembly, Trump said that he could use his good relations with Viktor Orbán to ask the Hungarian Prime Minister to stop buying russian oil. However, Hungary's top diplomat said that this is impossible.

"We are a landlocked country. It would be great if we had access to the sea: we could build an oil refinery or an LNG terminal on the coast and enter the global market. But we don't have that," Szijjártó said.

Recall that Hungary previously accused Ukraine of the extreme deterioration of relations over the past 10 years.
