Stefanchuk wants to turn Civil Code into supermarket of legal opportunities
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk said that he has developed proposals for updating the Civil Code to make it a real "supermarket" of legal opportunities for every Ukrainian. Stefanchuk announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"After the abolition of the Commercial Code, we, together with a large group of scientists and practitioners, developed proposals for updating the Civil Code of Ukraine to make it a real "supermarket" of legal opportunities for every Ukrainian," he said.
He noted that the relevant draft laws, No. 14056 and No. 14057, have been registered in the Rada. According to him, these two draft laws are aimed at modernizing the two fundamental books of the Civil Code: general provisions and personal rights.
"We updated them and brought them into line with the requirements of European legislation. This is a big and painstaking work. In the new edition, we combined modern European trends in the development of private law with Ukrainian reality. We coordinated many provisions with the military, taking into account the requirements of the time and the conditions of martial law," the chairman of the Rada said.
According to Stefanchuk, in the new edition, we managed to create the most modern system of personal rights, it significantly expands the legal possibilities of everyone in protecting the most valuable goods - life, health, dignity, honor, reputation, privacy, the list of personal rights has become wider and includes new medical, reproductive, social, identification, informational and digital rights.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, after the Rada adopted the relevant law, the Commercial Code of Ukraine lost force on August 28.
Stefanchuk argued that the repeal of the Commercial Code is due to its unsuitability in the legal field of Ukraine and is intended to bring Ukrainian legislation into line with the requirements and standards that exist in the European Union countries during the transition period.
