Ukrainian wrestler Belinska wins gold medal at 2025 World Wrestling Championships
Ukrainian Alla Belinska has won a gold medal at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. The Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration has reported this.
29-year-old Belinska performed in the weight category up to 72 kg. Before that, Alla qualified for the final after defeating Croatian Veronika Vilk, French Pauline Lecarpentier and Kyrgyz Nurzat Nurtaeva in turn. In the final, the Ukrainian from Ternopil competed with her rival from Turkey - Nesrin Bas.
Alla Belinska brought Ukraine its first gold medal at the Women's World Wrestling Championships in the last seven years. The previous Ukrainian champion at the 2018 World Championships was Alla Cherkasova. For Belinska, the gold medal of the world championship is also the first in her professional career.
In total, Ukrainian women have already won two awards at the 2025 World Championships. Silver in the 59 kg weight category was won by Mariia Vynnyk.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, for the first time in history, the fate of the gold medal in the marathon was decided by a gap of three hundredths of a second.
