Meteorite, UFO or missile. In China, air defense downed mysterious object in sky
Residents of the Chinese province of Shandong witnessed a mysterious incident in the night sky. Users of social networks published videos showing the work of the air defense forces and the fall of a mysterious object, which was accompanied by a bright flash and a loud roar. Before the fall, eyewitnesses reported two loud explosions.
The event occurred on the night of September 12 near the city of Weifang. According to witnesses, the object was moving along a parabolic trajectory at high speed, and another luminous object was flying towards it from the other side. At the moment of their intersection, there was a powerful flash and a sound similar to a cannon shot.
Later, residents of other cities - Yantai, Rizhao and Jinan - also posted videos of strange phenomena in the sky. The incident caused active discussions on Chinese social networks. Some believe that it could have been a test of a missile interception system, others suggest a meteorite, and some even talked about an UFO.
There is no official information from the authorities yet. The Weifang Emergency Management Department said that they had not received any reports about this incident.
As previously reported, one of the largest and rarest Martian meteorites was sold at a Sotheby's auction for a record USD 5.3 million - it became the most expensive meteorite in history.
