Ukrposhta to change pension payment procedure in frontline areas after Yarova tragedy
Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilianskyi said the company will change the procedure for paying pensions in frontline areas after the occupiers' airstrike on the village of Yarova in the Donetsk Region, which killed more than 20 people.
Smilianskyi wrote about this on his Facebook page.
According to him, Ukrposhta and the military-civilian administration agreed to change the procedure for paying pensions in settlements near the frontline. The new procedure will allow finding a balance between security and providing people with basic services. He did not provide details for security reasons.
Later, on the air of Suspilne.Studiia, Smilianskyi confirmed that the company will make changes to the procedure for delivering pensions.
"We will continue to improve delivery methods, because Ukrposhta is often the only company operating in these regions. We must support our people, bring them food, pensions, social assistance, until they are evacuated," said Smilianskyi.
He added that options are being considered to use the premises or evacuate pension recipients to safer areas.
Strike on pension distribution site in Yarova
On Tuesday, September 9, the occupation aircraft dropped a 250-kilogram bomb on the village of Yarova. The settlement is located in the Lyman community and is several kilometers from the front line.
Shortly before the airstrike, a mobile post office of Ukrposhta arrived in the village to distribute pensions. The bomb fell next to a crowd of people.
As of 1:50 p.m. on September 9, at least 23 people were reported dead. Another 18 people were injured and traumatized. Three of them are in serious condition.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, after the airstrike on Yarova, MP Mariana Bezuhla called for the evacuation of all civilians from the zone of active hostilities.
