Frozen assets cannot be returned to russia without reparations – Kaja Kallas
The assets of the Central Bank of russia frozen in the territory of the European Union, after the establishment of a ceasefire or the signing of a peace agreement, cannot be returned to russia until it pays reparations to Ukraine.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has stated this before the start of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Copenhagen.
Kallas is convinced that the frozen assets cannot be returned to russia until it pays compensation to Ukraine for the damage caused by the war.
"We can't possibly imagine that ... if ... there is a ceasefire or peace deal that these assets are given back to Russia if they haven't paid for the reparations," she told reporters before a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Copenhagen.
