Ex-speaker Andriy Parubiy killed in Lviv – National Police
On Saturday, August 30, a public and political figure, former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy, was killed in Lviv.
The National Police and the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to the National Police, the shooting was reported at around noon on line 102.
It was also reported that as a result of the injuries received, the victim, born in 1971, a public and political figure, died on the spot; his name was not given.
"All details will be disclosed in the manner and to the extent provided for by criminal procedural legislation," the police reported.
Later, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration wrote that the murdered person was former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy. According to him, he died before the arrival of doctors.
"The Lviv Region is searching for the shooter who killed the former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy. All relevant services are involved," Kozytskyi wrote.
The head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration confirmed that Parubiy died before the arrival of doctors.
Information about the murder of the politician has already been confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
"The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and the Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko have just reported on the first known circumstances of the terrible murder in Lviv. Andriy Parubiy died. My condolences to his family and friends. All necessary forces and means are involved in the investigation and search for the killer," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Andriy Parubiy was the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from April 14, 2016 to August 28, 2019. He was a Member of Parliament of Ukraine of the 6th, 7th and 8th convocations.
