Banks import more cash euros than dollars for first time in July
Banks imported more cash euros than dollars for the first time in July.
This is evidenced by data from the National Bank of Ukraine, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Thus, during the reporting period, banks imported USD 332 million in cash, compared to USD 377 million a month earlier, while the import of cash euros in July amounted to USD 395.128 million in equivalent, compared to USD 322.690 million a month earlier.
In addition, gold worth USD 2,160,000 in equivalent was imported in the reporting month.
In total, cash currency worth USD 731.692 million in equivalent was imported in July, compared to USD 701.679 million a month earlier.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the National Bank is considering the possibility of changing the base currency for currency policy orientation — from the US dollar to the euro.
This scenario is still hypothetical, but it is determined by a number of geopolitical and economic factors.
