"Ukraine is not a victim, it is a fighter." Zelenskyy congratulates citizens on Independence Day
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day. He noted that Ukraine is different today: it is stronger and respects itself; it does not wait for gestures of goodwill, but has its own will to implement what it needs. The head of state's greeting was published on his social networks.
Zelenskyy recorded an address on Independence Square, where, according to him, one can best feel what independence is and why it is so important for Ukrainians.
"When we hear from the enemy every day: "There is no such state, there is no such nation." And when we prove the opposite every day. We prove that Ukrainians are and will be Ukrainians on this land, on this square, where in a hundred years our next generations will stand. And in a hundred years they will celebrate the Independence Day of Ukraine here," the President said.
"Today, both the US and Europe agree: Ukraine has not yet won, but it will definitely not lose. Ukraine has won its independence. Ukraine is not a victim, it is a fighter. Ukraine does not ask, it offers. Alliance and partnership. The best army in Europe. Advanced defense technologies. Experience of resilience. We say: "We need the EU." Yes. But it needs us no less. And everyone recognizes this. And they recognize Ukraine as such. Not as a poor relative, but as a strong ally," Zelenskyy emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, today, August 24, marks the 34th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.
