3 russian regions face gasoline shortages amid Ukrainian strikes on refineries

The third region of the aggressor country, russia, has faced restrictions on the sale of automotive fuel. The disruptions in gasoline supplies are due to the shutdown of several oil refineries as a result of drone attacks.

The russian publication The Moscow Times reported this today, August 21.

Yesterday, August 20, the administration of the Kuril Islands, which are part of the Sakhalin Oblast of the russian federation, announced a sales restriction. Local gas stations were ordered to sell no more than 10 liters of gasoline per person.

Emergency and special services, as well as legal entities that ensure the life of the Kuril district, received priority for receiving fuel.

The administration called on ordinary residents of the islands to treat the situation with understanding and patience.

The administration added that restrictions on the sale of gasoline will remain in place at least until August 24, when a ship with almost 40 tons of 92nd and 95th gasoline will arrive in the region.

The Sakhalin Oblast has become the third region of the russian federation to experience a fuel shortage. These are the Transbaikal and Primorsky Krai. In addition, a similar situation is observed in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

The disruptions in the supply of automotive fuel are occurring against the backdrop of attacks by Ukrainian drones on oil refineries. As a result of such strikes, four refineries have temporarily stopped operating since the beginning of August.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 19, the occupation administration of Crimea recognized a gasoline shortage. The occupiers called on the residents of the peninsula to hold on for at least a month until the situation normalizes.
