White House admits possibility of air support for Ukraine

The administration of US President Donald Trump does not rule out providing Ukraine with air support within the framework of future security guarantees.

Sky News writes about this with reference to the statement of White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

At a press conference, Leavitt, answering the question of whether the presence of US air forces in Ukraine is possible, replied that it is not ruled out.

"This is an option and a possibility," she said.

Leavitt clarified that the US President has a number of military tools at his disposal.

"I definitely do not rule out any of the military options that the President has at his disposal," she emphasized.

At the same time, the White House spokeswoman emphasized that Trump "finally" rejected the scenario of sending US ground troops to Ukraine.

The issue of security guarantees for Ukraine became one of the key topics of negotiations between the presidents of Ukraine, the United States and European leaders at the White House on August 18.

Earlier, it was reported that the allies were considering the option of providing Ukraine with security obligations under the principle of NATO Article 5, but outside the Alliance itself.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 19, US President Donald Trump announced the start of preparations for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian leader vladimir putin.

As we recall, Trump said that putin may not want to conclude an agreement on Ukraine.
