Center for Countering Disinformation denies fake about Ukrainian serviceman who allegedly "shot his commander" and "surrendered to captivity" to russians
The Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) has emphasized that the video about an alleged Ukrainian serviceman who "shot his commander" and "surrendered to captivity" to the russians has signs of a russian fake.
The agency reported this on Telegram.
The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that the video circulating on the Internet with a story about an alleged Ukrainian serviceman who "shot his commander" and "surrendered to captivity" to the russians contains a "classic set of russian narratives" - violence by the command, forced mobilization and the "humanity" of russian captivity.
It is noted that the video has signs of a fake: there are no details that would allow us to establish the time and place of the events, the military unit or the personal data of the participants - the face is masked, there are no chevrons or evidence of belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, the rhetoric of the hero of the video copies typical kremlin propaganda clichés.
"The spread of such fakes is part of the Russian Federation's information operation aimed at undermining trust in the Defense Forces of Ukraine, reducing morale and disrupting mobilization processes," the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, YouTube has blocked the channels of russian journalist Yuliia Latynina and former Member of Parliament of Ukraine Hennadii Balashov in Ukraine for spreading narratives that are consonant with the propaganda of the aggressor country, russia.
