Historical maximum for 8th time in a row – state debt increases to USD 184.8 billion in June

The total state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine in June increased compared to the previous month by 2.1%, or by USD 3.88 billion, to USD 184.84 billion.

This is stated in the data of the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

State and state-guaranteed debt at the end of June amounted to UAH 7,696.95 billion, or USD 184.84 billion, against UAH 7,515.21 billion, or USD 180.97 billion, a month earlier.

The total amount of direct state debt as of the reporting date amounted to UAH 7,402.52 billion (USD 177.77 billion) against UAH 7,239.17 billion (USD 174.32 billion) a month earlier.

At the same time, direct external debt increased from USD 129.73 billion to USD 133.57 billion during the month.

Direct domestic debt decreased in hryvnia equivalent from USD 1,851.66 billion to USD 1,840.61 billion (in dollar equivalent - from USD 44.59 billion to USD 44.20 billion).

State-guaranteed debt at the end of the reporting month amounted to USD 294.43 billion, or USD 7.07 billion.

Ukraine's total state (direct and guaranteed) debt in 2024 increased by 14.27%, or USD 20.74 billion, to USD 166.06 billion.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine's total public (direct and guaranteed) debt for 2023 increased by 30.4%, or USD 33.87 billion, to a record USD 145.32 billion.

In 2022, total public debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.

In 2021, public debt increased by 8.52%, or USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.

In 2020, total public debt increased by 6.9% from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
