CCD denies reports of agreement on meeting between Zelenskyy and putin

The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) warns against the spread of a manipulative message on the Internet that distorts the words of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

This was emphasized in a statement posted on the official page of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

The fake message claims that an agreement has been reached on a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian leader vladimir putin, and that this meeting has already been approved.

In fact, as the Center clarifies, Hakan Fidan only stated in an interview with the Turkish TV channel NTV that both sides recognize the need for such a meeting. He did not provide any other details or confirmation of specific agreements. This statement was distorted in the information space, which led to the spread of false interpretations.

For context, the Center recalled that during the negotiations in Istanbul, the Ukrainian delegation proposed organizing a meeting of the leaders of Ukraine and russia by the end of August 2025. However, as of today, the russian side has not provided any official response to this proposal, and there are no specific agreements on the meeting.

The Center for Countering Disinformation calls on citizens and the media to carefully check the primary sources of information and to approach the formulation of headlines and messages responsibly.

"Such inaccuracies can be used by hostile propaganda to manipulate and distort facts, which plays into the hands of disinformation campaigns," the NSDC emphasized.
