Anti-corruption infrastructure will work. Zelenskyy commented on scandal surrounding NABU and SAPO

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the resonant situation surrounding the adopted law, which limits the independence of NABU and SAPO, and explained his actions by the need to rid the anti-corruption bodies of "russian influences".

In his night address on July 23, the head of state said that the day before he had held talks with NABU head Semen Kryvonos, SAPO head Oleksandr Klymenko, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, and SSU head Vasyl Maliuk.

"The anti-corruption infrastructure will work. Only without russian influences - everything must be cleaned of this. And there must be more justice," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He also emphasized that the Prosecutor General is determined to ensure the inevitability of punishment for those who violate the law, and cases that have remained idle for years must be brought to an end.

"For years, officials who fled Ukraine have been living peacefully abroad for some reason - in very pleasant countries and without legal consequences. This is abnormal. There is no rational explanation why criminal proceedings worth billions have been "hanging" for years. And there is no explanation why russians can still receive the information they need. It is important that there is no russians. It is important that there is an inevitability of punishment and that society really sees this," the President summed up.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted bill No. 12414 in the second reading.

NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and SAPO Head Oleksandr Klymenko appealed to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, urging him to veto No. 12414.
