Zelenskyy appoints Plakhotniuk as Ambassador to Canada instead of Kovaliv

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Andrii Plakhotniuk as Ambassador to Canada instead of Yulia Kovaliv. This is stated in decree No. 529 dated July 21, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"To appoint Andrii Mykolaiovych Plakhotniuk as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Canada," the decree states.

By another decree No. 530 dated July 21, Zelenskyy appointed Plakhotniuk as a part-time representative of Ukraine to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

At the same time, Zelenskyy dismissed 49-year-old Plakhotniuk from the post of Ambassador to Sweden, which he had held since September 2020.

By decree No. 508 dated July 21, Zelenskyy dismissed Yuliia Kovaliv from the post of Ambassador to Canada and from the post of representative of Ukraine to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) concurrently.

Kovaliv has served as Ambassador to Canada since March 2022.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 9, 2022, Zelenskyy appointed Yulia Kovaliv as Ambassador to Canada.

Kovaliv was Deputy Head of the Office of the President from September 2019 to December 2020.
