SAPO opens case involving Stefanishyna
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) has opened criminal proceedings involving Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna.
Ukrainian News Agency was informed about this by law enforcement agencies.
Officially, SAPO does not name any names.
"Given the public outcry, media inquiries, and the spread of incorrect information, we hereby inform you that SAPO prosecutors have initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of alleged abuse of their official position by officials of the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (Asset Recovery and Management Agency, ARMA) (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the SAPO official statement reads.
The pre-trial investigation in the specified criminal proceedings has been entrusted to NABU detectives. To date, no person in this case has been served with suspicion. The investigation was initiated based on materials from a journalistic investigation.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the family of Minister Stefanishyna manages state property through ARMA, MPs said. The European Solidarity faction in the Verkhovna Rada sent an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers demanding the resignation of Vice Prime Minister for European Integration Olha Stefanishyna, as well as the dismissal of the head of the ARMA Olena Duma.
